Football season and tailgate parties.

The heart of Football season and tailgate parties and our favorite sports fanatics. The three go together hand-in-hand, joyfully. And those occasions will be here before we can say, “Bob’s your uncle!”  What makes this triangular event even better is our favorite team is playing at home against their sworn rival team. This shall be a game to remember; a game not to be missed. A huge plus for us is it is within driving distance. Woo-hoo!

So, we get serious. This is not our first football season tailgate party, and it probably will not be our last. Every great get-together, be it football season and tailgate parties or some other spouts event, requires planning. We call all our sports-fanatic friends to plan a spectacular tailgate party for the All-American Pastime. Planning this particular Football Season and tailgate Party is equal to planning a military exercise. To avoid the innumerable phone calls such planning requires, the main planning team meets at one of the members’ houses. Hours later, the football season and tailgate parties game plan is set and everyone knows their part.

Early on the day of the momentous game, everyone arrives at the stadium parking lot, their vehicles loaded with the assigned essentials. Camp chairs, coolers, a grill, and other necessary items for a successful tailgate party are unloaded during game-day banter. Excitement builds. There is enough chilly bite in the air to warrant great sweaters, thick plaid jackets, and knit stocking caps. Mugs of coffee or hot cocoa topped with marshmallows are a must.

Handy Essentials Make it Easy

You decided to step up your game and purchased a good, sturdy, hard-side 150 QT capacity cooler. You did not forget some of the interior space will be taken up by ice! Once you are in the football stadium, it is a long way to a store to replenish items you have forgotten or run out of because of a too-small cooler. Plus, you do not want to lose the premium parking spot so close to the entrance gate.

We want to keep it all organized so nothing gets left behind. A nifty item to keep it all together is an essential caddy. You will want a folding camp wagon that is handy for transporting your equipment to your setup location. It keeps your game thingamabobs together and easy to move. A stadium seat with a backrest (padded) makes watching the game more comfortable. Games can go on for a long time when you add in all the overtime plays. So is a lap blanket, a thermos filled with hot cocoa or coffee, and camp mugs. Oh, do not forget the binoculars.

Back to essentials.

The next item that tops the list of important items is the grill. Once again, you decided to step up your game and change grills . A portable 14.5-inch steel grill is selected as the perfect for tailgate grilling. Please, please, I beg of you, do not use a gas or propane grill to cook the greatest, best-tasting, nutrient-dense beef in the world. Gas and propane ruin the succulent, mouth-watering flavor of this beef by leaving behind traces of the chemicals on the meat.

Next, you want a small can with a tight lid or one that can be tied down, to put the extinguished coals into once the barbequing is done. This prevents accidental coal ash spillage. Everywhere! Of course, there are the eating utensils. If you are eco-conscious, you can use plastic plates and pop them into the dishwasher with tongs, spatula, grill fork, and basting brush once you get home. Ezy-Peezy! Not to mention so much sturdier than paper plates for those steaks or burgers.

Fire, Meat, and Man

While standing around the grill as the coals burn down to their red-hot glowing perfection, the hickory smoke smell teases the olfactory and makes the mouth water in anticipation. The sports fans reminisce about previous great plays and laugh about some really bad ones, too.

Choosing to bring the steaks, you stepped up your game again by selecting the little-known but healthiest, best-tasting, nutrient-dense beef in the world. You want to surprise everyone by serving nothing less than the very best beef money can buy. This beef deserves to be grilled over red-hot, glowing, natural hickory wood coals. The steaks sizzle as they hit the grill. Followed by the cobs of corn strategically placed on the grill. Juices from the sizzling steaks drip into red hot coals, filling the air tantalizingly.

Are you ready to eat?

Conversation slows almost completely as everyone gathers around the grill watching the steaks sizzle and brown to perfection. Hearing the words, “Someone open the wine, the steaks are almost ready,” everyone jumps into action. The wine is opened, plates and utensils are brought out, and sides are retrieved from the ice chest. Then, they all gather around the grill, plate, for and knife in hand, drooling in anticipation. A few of the guys are playfully vying for the front of the line to receive the first steak to come off the grill. Wine is poured into the red Dixie cups. In amazement, everyone exalts the fantastic tastes of the steak and the wine. One by one, they pronounce, “You outdid yourself this time, pal!”  Now that is a great Football season and tailgate party.

After you have experienced this beef for the first time, you will never want to buy grocery store beef again. EVER! In all honesty, this succulent, mouth-watering beef is the most important item for a truly successful tailgate party. Do not look for this fantastic beef in the local market. It is not there.  Find this healthy, nutrient-dense right here!

Think Meat Sides

Now, if you have chosen to grill burgers, choose the greatest, best tasting, nutrient-dense beef in the world, found in the same place as the succulent, healthy, nutrient-dense steaks. Burgers require buns, condiments, (catsup, mustard, hamburger chips), and toppings like lettuce, sliced onions, and sliced tomatoes. Sides can be potato salad, coleslaw, or baked beans. Once again, I suggest you keep it simple. No sense in making the football season and tailgate party more complicated than necessary. There are treats and snacks in the stadium you will want to enjoy. It is part of the football stadium experience.

The hamburgers will go great with a red Dixie cup of More Than Muse 2021  Chardonnay, or More Than Muse 2021 Chardonnay. I know I have just suggested a white to go with red meat but, be brave and give it a try. It may just surprise you into another glass or two. A novel idea

Oh, did I forget to mention that you can take the perfect football season and tailgate parties to your own backyard? And watch those games you cannot attend in person from the comfort of your recliner on your TV? At home, you can use your favorite fine wine glasses instead of the red Dixie cups! Unless you want to clean up that much easier, that is.

With an in-home football season tailgate party, the menu can be pretty much the same as far as the steaks and burgers are concerned. But the side dishes and game snack choices are endless.
